These are large, hand built, press moulded, 35cm diameter bowls, made from St Thomas and white earthenware clay, wich have sprigged, raised images, indented with decoration, sometimes using coloured clays. All bowls sit on 3 differently carved feet. The bowls are then fired to 1140c. coloured glazes are then rubbed into the indented patterns and then wiped away leaving strong outlines. Transparent or coloured glazes are then painted onto the bowls before being fired to 1090c. Following the glaze firing some bowls have on-glaze enamels or gold or platinum lustre, hand painted on to the surface before the final firing to 790c
