pea-green be-green (gardener's war against climate change)

                                                                                                        pea-green, be-green

'pea-green, be-green, is one of a pair of pieces about our changing climate and the efforts we can make in a small way as gardeners. The sister piece is called ‘flora, flora, flora.
The pieces are made by coiling porcelain/white St Thomas clay into an almost cylindrical shape, housing a hand modelled lid in the shape of a  pea seed on pea-green, be-green and a semi-spherical rose bloom lid on flora, flora, flora. They are for sale individually but were made as a pair to show two different aspects of gardening. The pieces have been decorated with hand modelled and sprigged flowers and beans, indented with patterns and then fired to 1160c. Black or green glaze has been rubbed into the indentation and wiped away and then clear glaze has then been painted on to the surface area before being fired to 1080c. A final enamel firing to 800c. follows use of on-glaze enamels and gold and silver lustres.
Pea-green, be-green sits on three slip-cast and glazed lemons and flora, flora, flora sits on three ceramic shell feet. Individually priced at flora, flora, flora £400 and pea-green be-green £300.  £650 for the pair.

both named and dated by the artist 2022.
